Student Academic Services provides FREE, one-on-one peer tutoring, available to all enrolled American University students in the following courses:

  • ACCT-240 & ACCT-241
  • BIO-110 & BIO-210
  • CHEM-110, CHEM-210, CHEM-310, & CHEM-320
  • ECON-100, ECON-150, ECON-200, & ECON-300
  • SISU-300

Where is tutoring held?

  • One-on-one tutoring in Summer 2021 will be held online using the Zoom video conferencing platform.
    • For one-on-one tutoring, students will need to schedule their appointments using WCOnline. When reviewing the Tutor's information, please find "LOCATION" under their email address for the Zoom information for your tutoring session.

What happens in a tutoring session?

  • Peer tutors help students learn course concepts and methods of analysis by providing opportunities for hands-on practice. They work with students to develop or enhance key strategies for academic success, such as time management, critical reading, and how to set and achieve goals.

Who are the peer tutors?

  • Peer tutors are currently enrolled undergraduate and graduate students who have demonstrated mastery of course and academic skills. They are selected based on applications, faculty recommendation, and interviews.

To view tutoring schedules, visit WCOnline.

  1. Create an account/log into WCOnline with your AU student email address.

  2. Below the log-in box, select the appropriate tutor schedule and click, Log In.

  3. On the top of the page, click the drop-down menu and select your course.

  1. Log into WCOnline at least 3 hours before the appointment's time.
  2. Click on your appointment.
  3. Select to "cancel this appointment" at the bottom of the form.

Yes, online tutoring is available due to the university's online operation. All tutoring will take place on the Zoom video conferencing platform.
