Welcome to the Center for Community Engagement & Service!
“Freedom is not a state; it is an act. It is not some enchanted garden perched high on a distant plateau where we can finally sit down and rest. Freedom is the continuous action we all must take, and each generation must do its part to create an even more fair, more just society." - John Lewis
In the midst of a public health crisis, we are called to protect and serve one another. The Center for Community Engagement & Service is committed to continue its service to the American University community. Stay connected to each of our programs via email and visit each program page for updates. CCES staff is working remotely but we are available, so feel free to contact us (emails are on the Staff Page) with any questions or suggestions. Additionally we have compiled virtual, in person, and no contact service opportunities that are available both locally and nationally.
As an institution, AU is committed to advancing social justice and civic responsibility, and we’re at the front lines of that effort. The Center for Community Engagement & Service (CCES) leads the AU community in service through local and global programming that promotes leadership and social change.
