Welcome to the University Center

Are you looking to find more information about American University's student center or union? Then you've come to the right place! We may not be known by these traditional names; however, we are the office working to create spaces for students to gather, to grow, and to create their own communities, programs, and connections. Already involved with a campus organization and looking to schedule an event? Then we're your resource as well.

The University Center office believes in creating paths outside of the classroom for our students that will help them flourish during their time at AU. In our work to achieve that, we serve as a catalyst for developing unique spaces and services, facilitate co-curricular endeavors through event scheduling, and provide developmental student jobs. We invite everyone to explore our spaces and find the community, opportunity, or just that cup of coffee they've been looking for.

Student Employee Spotlight

How has working for UC and being involved on-campus enhanced your AU experience?

Working for UC has enhanced my experience over the last three years because it gave me opportunity to meet new people, compelled me to thoroughly know campus, and helped me stay updated on events. Being at the center of campus life allowed me to further appreciate the work that is done but not seen when putting on events, regardless of size. My campus involvement allowed me to speak out and advocate for issues that Black students face on campus, enhanced my communication skills, and expanded the connections I have in DC, both on and off campus.
