You are here: American University Campus Life Counseling Meet the Staff

Our caring, experienced team is here to help you. We prioritize finding highly qualified staff that represent the wide diversity of our student body, and work with all our students to find counselors with whom they can be comfortable.

Our mental health professionals include seven psychologists with a broad range of specialties. We also have over a dozen experienced and skilled clinical trainees, including Post-Doctoral Fellows, Doctoral Interns, and Clinical Externs. All have either received or will soon receive their doctorates, and are close equivalents, in the field of psychology, to Medical Residents or Interns.

Referrals can also be made off-campus. To help students who seek off-campus services find a suitable therapist and navigate initial appointments, our staff includes a full-time clinical case manager who will facilitate this ongoing care and support. For prescriptions and other psychiatric services and medical management, students may be seen at the Student Health Center.
