Washington Semester® Program- Established in 1947, the Washington Semester® Program is an experiential learning academic program that includes 8 credits of academic seminar in one of 12 topic areas, 4 credits of internship, and 3-4 credits of independent research or elective course.
Washington Semester® Summer Internship Program– Students gain hands-on skills interning for nine weeks in Washington DC with a professional organization and augment their hands-on experience by attending a seminar once a week in their field of study.
Mentorship Program- This 15-credit fall semester program gives students admitted for the spring semester at American University an insider’s perspective on Washington, DC. Based on the highly successful academic model of SPExS’ Washington Semester program, the Washington Mentorship Program is grounded in the best practices of experiential and traditional academic learning.
AU Gap Program - American University’s Gap Program will provide you with an enriching experience in Washington, D.C. You will build a foundation for academic and professional success, while focusing on skills that can be applied in college and later in a career. This program is an excellent option if you have just completed high school and are taking a year before starting college.
Delaware in DC - This 16-credit fall semester program gives students admitted for the spring semester at the University of Delaware an insider’s perspective on Washington DC. Based on the highly successful academic model of the Washington Semester Program, the Delaware in D.C. Program is grounded in the best practices of experiential and traditional academic learning.
