By participating in an orientation program transfer students will gain insight of unique AU campus resources, develop a connection to the AU community, and feel excited about their decision to attend AU.
We offer two different orientation program types for our transfer student population, designed with you in mind. Information about both programs will be mailed out starting in May to all deposit paid transfer students and will continue on a rolling basis though mid-August. Please read the descriptions, as you may find one program that will fit your needs more appropriately.
Two-Day Program (July 6-7 & July 10-11)
These orientation sessions were designed for students looking for a more traditional orientation experience. This program will not only provide important information about AU’s distinctive services and resources but also allow for more opportunities to connect socially with other transfer students. In addition to participating in helpful student- and staff-led sessions, you’ll meet with academic units and receive a final class schedule. The $160 fee for this program includes four meals, program materials, giveaways, activities and overnight accommodations in the residence hall.
Although you will be participating in Eagle Summit parallel to first-year students, transfer students will have a separate group and schedule, led by a transfer orientation leader. Check-in will be available from 7:15 a.m.- 9:00 a.m. on the first morning. The program will run until about 10:00 p.m. that evening. The second day will begin at 8:00 a.m. and will conclude around 4:30 p.m., depending on what you need to accomplish before leaving campus.
One-Day Program (August 22)
This option is designed for transfer students only looking for the nuts and bolts of AU college life. Students will meet with academic units and learn basic information about AU's distinctive services and resources- and spend a little time meeting other transfer students. We will make sure that you also visit your school or college and receive a final class schedule. The $40 fee for this one-day program includes two meals, program materials, giveaways, and activities.
The orientation will begin at 9:00 a.m. with check-in. The program will run until approximately 5:00 p.m. that evening. Please check back here for copies of our schedule within the coming weeks.
Register for Eagle Summit
Registration will be available in late March and it just takes a moment to sign up for an experience you won’t want to miss.
Your AU school or college will mail or email you information about registering for classes and completing other important tasks. If you do not receive information, please contact the advising office of the school or college that houses your intended major. Return registration materials as directed as quickly as possible to facilitate course registration.
Given the number and complexity of requirements in many majors, it is important to create an academic plan with your advisor. He or she will help you develop your interests and goals, review the transfer credits you have been awarded, and register you for your first semester classes.
Note that you won’t register for classes during orientation. Your advisor will review your proposed course selection for your fall 2017 classes, and—if appropriate—clear you to register. You’ll then sign up for your courses using the online AU Registration System. During the Academic Advising session at orientation, an advisor will confirm your course registration and give you a final copy of your class schedule.
