Who We Are:

The Residence Maintenance Crew is a team of Student Staff Members who are responsible for responding to 2fix requests concerning residence hall furniture, setting up for events held in all of the meeting spaces within the residence halls, and generally working to improve the residential experience at American University.

What We Do:

Duties of the RMC's include:

  • Responding to 2fix requests concerning all moveable furniture (desks, beds, chairs, lounge furniture, etc.)
  • Tripling and De-Tripling rooms
  • Replacement/Repair of Curtains
  • Bunking/De-Bunking Beds
  • Installing/Removing Lofts
  • Setting up and Breaking down Residence Hall meeting spaces

Hours:

RMC's normal business hours (when classes are in session) are 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. and the best way to reach them is through the HDP front desk. During summer session hours are reduced to 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. There is an RMC on Duty at all times for emergencies. If you need to contact the RMC on Duty visit the nearest residence hall desk for assistance.

Duty:

Please be mindful that the RMC on Duty is made available for EMERGENCIES ONLY. Generally this means that your room in not livable (i.e. broken bed, loft, bunk-bed)

Location:

The RMC office can be found within the Housing and Dining Programs office in Anderson Hall. Please speak with a Student Receptionist- they will gladly direct you wherever you need to go. The Residence Maintenance Crew services all residence halls on main campus as well as Nebraska Hall and Tenley Campus.

Set-Ups:

RMCs are notified daily of all events scheduled to take place within residence hall meeting spaces. We rely on the information we receive from your space request form so please fill out your requests carefully and be mindful of the number of attendees expected as well as the layout of the room. If for any reason details of an event change last minute please call the Housing and Dining Programs Front Desk as soon as possible to ensure all necessary changes are made.
