Awards go to students with demonstrated financial need. AU determines your need based on information you provide on both the required financial aid applications (Free Application for Federal Student Aid, or FAFSA, and the CSS/Financial Aid PROFILE®). Need is calculated as the difference between AU’s Cost of Attendance and your composite Expected Family Contribution based on the information you provide on the FAFSA and CSS PROFILE.
CALCULATING DEMONSTRATED FINANCIAL NEED
COA (tuition, fees, room, board, books, transportation, and personal expenses)
EFC (primarily determined by income, number of family members in college, family size, and assets)
= FINANCIAL NEED
